After being gifted this piece of bark from the Big Island, Hawai’i, I knew it had to become a canvas.
It might seem uninspired or too obvious to paint a palm leaf on palm bark. Still, the aim of tying such self-referential artwork to the natural world is to show the inherent beauty in our surroundings, that all flora and fauna have value and wonder in their existence, regardless of how disconnected our day-to-day lives have become from them.
